Ninja Née

Science Stories With a Hint of Ninja Magic.

The Ninja Née science education program is designed to introduce STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts to children by coupling immersive storytelling with exciting hands-on science experiments and activities. Follow along as a young girl conquers topics in earth science, environmental science, physical science, and other science-based subjects.

Each kit tells an engaging story of a young ninja who has decided that magical thinking should be backed by ninja science. She encounters challenges of the everyday variety (and a few more of her imagination’s creation) that she solves by using scientific principles.

Each kit has an activity plan that teachers or parents can follow to make every Ninja Née event simple to host. The activity plan provides step-by-step instructions and story-based prompts that pair seamlessly with the included science experiments. These science lesson plans are ideal for homeschoolers, teachers seeking a bit of inspiration, and parents of children who are interested in science experiments, and align with NGSS standards to help educators create exciting lessons while fulfilling curriculum requirements.

Who Is Behind the Ninja Née Project?

Ninja Née is a collaboration of two educators (an Earth and Environmental Sciences teacher and an Early Childhood Specialist), both of whom have an interest in inspiring and empowering the next generation of young minds.

Author Renee Bandes

Renée Bandes is an environmentalist and Earth Science teacher with over 20 years of experience in teaching elementary and high school children. She is certified to teach sciences to kindergarten through 12th grade. She is also the author of the Little Laurie Science Stories series for early learners. Renée’s passion for teaching science, combined with her experiences teaching children post-pandemic, led her to think of new ways to include science in kids’ everyday life.

Michael Evans is a child development specialist and co-owner of SKILLZ of Patchogue, a child development center focusing on the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of children 18 months to 14 years of age. As a science communicator, Michael also curates Onward Science, a website geared toward teens and adults who share an enthusiasm for science and learning. Michael is a self-professed science nerd and was drawn to the project as a way to help kids of an academic persuasion feel included in the social spotlight.
